چکیده

We report a 160 Gb/s OTDM network comprising switching and demultiplexing through field deployed fiber. The 160 Gb/s signal was obtained by time-interleaving 16 channels of a 10 Gb/s signal. The add-drop node was realized by using a gain-transparent operation of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). A subharmonic clock recovery with a pre-scaled electro-optical phase locked loop employing an electroabsorption modulator was applied. An OTDM receiver employed a fourwave mixing principle in an SOA. The impact of fiber chromatic and polarization mode dispersion is discussed. Switching and demultiplexing performance are shown for a fiber link of 275 and 550 km, respectively. Excellent operation of clock recovery, drop-through-add function, and transmission was achieved.

Time domain add-drop multiplexing for RZ-DPSK OTDM signals.

We show all-optical time domain add-drop multiplexing for a phase modulated OTDM signal for the first time, to our knowledge. The add-drop multiplexer is constructed of a Kerr shutter consisting of a 375 m long highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF), gamma=20 W(-1)km(-1). Successful time domain add-drop multiplexing is shown for 80 Gb/s RZ-DPSK OTDM signals with a 10 Gb/s base rate.

All-Optical TDM Data Demultiplexing at 80 Gb/s With Significant Timing Jitter Tolerance Using a Fiber Bragg Grating Based Rectangular Pulse Switching Technology

We demonstrate the use of fiber Bragg grating based pulse-shaping technology to provide timing jitter tolerant data demultiplexing in an 80 Gb/s all-optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) system. Error-free demultiplexing operation is achieved with 6 ps timing jitter tolerance using superstructured fiber Bragg grating based 1.7 ps soliton to 10 ps rectangular pulse conversion at the switchin...

5-Gb/s optical transmitter based on incoherent-light-injected RSOAs with graceful upgrade capability for WDM PONs.

We propose and demonstrate a novel and cost-effective optical transmitter based on incoherent-light-injected reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOAs) which can be upgraded to higher data rate without discarding the existing low-data-rate transmitter. The transmitter is based on optical time-division multiplexing (OTDM) of return-to-zero modulated RSOAs and thus capable of upgrading t...

100 Gb / s Optical Time - Division Multiplexed Networks

We present ultrafast slotted optical time-division multiplexed networks as a viable means of implementing a highly capable next-generation all-optical packet-switched network. Such a network is capable of providing simple network management, the ability to support variable quality-of-service, self-routing of packets, scalability in the number of users, and the use of digital regeneration, buffe...
